He painted both historic and genre themes.〔(Italian Beni Culturali ), ''Donna con Ventaglio'', private collection.〕 ==Biography== He began his studies at the Albertina Academy of Turin, but completed studies at the Accademia Clementina of Bologna. He then returned to Naples were he became a follower of the Realism of Domenico Morelli. At the age of 23 (1861), he was recruited as an instructor at the Art Institute of Naples, a post he held till 1864.
